Day to day children, meaning anyone under 18, have opinions about political viewpoints, the environment and other various issues. Yet, politicians do not seem to realize that what they say effects what a lot of teens do. Instead of just targeting the adult audience, why don't they also target teenagers because they form view points at young ages that stick with them their entire life. Just curious as to what people think.

I think it has more to do with the fact that they don't believe they have gotten enough education or enough years to bring around maturity to realize what they want to vote for. While it is true that children have some interesting viewpoints that sometimes adults and politicians have to listen to, but I believe they are thinking they are putting a restriction on who can vote because they want to retain their childhood.
If you say that a child could vote, they are taking a big jump in their maturity levels (in some cases) and letting go of the innocence that most possess when they are not worried about how the earth is warming in dangerous levels, or how our tax dollars are going to.
There can be many other reasons why, but this is what I chose to believe. Politicians don't care about people who can't vote, so, the people under the age restriction don't usually get a voice in what goes on around the world.
Trust me, I would want some more say in politics and stuff, but I don't think that I have gained enough years of experience, or the true WANT of going and voting. Just my thoughts.

I gather you're a young person yourself.

First, because children don't vote. Second, because the views you form as a child in fact DON'T typically stick with you your entire life.

You said the magic words "under 18". You can't vote until you are 18.

Children don't pay taxes. Polticians do target children though, what do you think the "young conservatives" and other similar entities are about.
