There is a foam cutter that is basically a little can with batteries in it and a wire that is on the out side that is heated by the batteries to cut through the foam.. Cuts like butter. I don't' think they are terribly expensive.

I have found that an electric knife is the only way to efficiently cut foam and to keep it straight. If you are cutting styrofoam there is a little battery operated tool that has a wire on it that gets hot and melts through the styrofoam and does a great job that way.

This would be a great opportunity for you to buy one of those cordless circular saws that are on sale everywhere this holiday season. For example, a certain orange home improvement store has an 18Volt circular saw and drill combo for $49. I own that particular drill and saw and am very pleased. A fine toothed hand saw would also do it, but, would be more difficult to control. Either way, use a straight edge of some kind as a guide. A yard stick or scrap of lumber will work fine. Good Luck.

cut 20 centimeter heater wire(heater element) and contact a 12 or more dc power supply at each end ,it will warm enough to cut the foam,
if it is not enough rise the voltage.
