I work in an emergency room as a healthcare tech. I am currently a senior in college majoring in sociology. I am still under orientation with my 90 day mark approaching december 28 of 06. My rate of pay is 11.38 and I work nights 3 days, 12 hr shifts which give me a 1.75 shift differential, and an extra dollar for weekends which I work both days every weekend. I make about 1.50 more than my other co-workers. However,I am a single parent of three and still dependant on the government to feed my family. I would like to be self suffient for my family and I need as much money as I can get. How can I communicate my needs of more money to my employer as a single parent, good worker? When should I expect a raise working in such an enviornement,(after all I am assisting in saving someone's life at times). When I graduate should I ask for more money. As a CNA how do you get more education that increses your worth w/o becomin a nurse? Please address all questions.

most workers can't expect a pay raise until after 6 months.
you don't even have 3 months yet...

you are a senior you state and will be graduating and surely moving on.
this healthcare provider knows that. You won't be there much longer.
yet you already earn more than the other workers.

so i would bite that bullet..
keep government assistance..(be grateful for that) get my degree
and move on. thankful i had a decent job paying over 11 dollars instead of $5.15 hour at some fast food joint.

When you were hired, how much did they offer to pay you. Did you accept the job knowing it wasn't going to be enough money? Because I believe people should work for at least a year before they get a raise if they are getting paid a yearly salary. If you get paid by the hour, I believe you should be there at least 6 months. Then, only dependent on your performance not how long you've been there, you should get a 15% raise.

it style of sounds like will strengthen ought to take place each and every 6 months- this is how we do it at Whataburger and that i think of this is the way it rather is meant to take place. if to procure an worker instruction manual before everything of your activity and saved it, you could desire to look via that or purely ask your supervisor what the deal is. they could desire to have counsel like that obtainable to all workers. good success!
