The cat isn't meowing to irritate you....unfortunately he can't speak your language to tell you that he is either hungry or thirsty which if you keep food and water available at all times you won't have to worry about that one, and even if it is not your cat, Pet the cat and say kind words...just a few minutes of your time and it will satisfy him/her...and also does the cat have a special place he can call his own? My cats have fave places they like to take naps and I know they love a bean bag...or just a blanket put in a corner for him to get....cats don't do anything to just simply annoy you....it is trying to tell you that it needs something....put yourself in the cats position and treat him like you would want to be treated is the best advise I can give you...why can't he stay with your kid? My cats sleep in my room and they don't bother noone....especially me....they curl up and go to sleep next to me.....if you need further advice go to the web site for the ASPCA or the Humane Society...or just type in Tips on caring for cats and search the web you'll find some....he could help you (the cat ) to not be so stressed out if you would just be his friend and let him sit on your lap while you watch tv or even sit there where you are right now...Good luck to you and the Cat!

Why don't you lock the cat in the laundry room or some remote room of the house & get some sleep.

maybe he smells another cat thats in heat outside your house somewhere. or if its a female, she might be in heat. theres nothing you can do unless you want to let her out to roam.

if she's female she may be in heat and all you can do is wait. sorry. scratch her down on her back by her tail, if she rises in reaction then that's the problem.
