Well, former sumo grand-champion "Akebono" AKA Chad Rowan was a basketball star in his high school days. His physique and style of play resembled Shaq. Akebono went to U. of Hawaii on an athletic scholarship but didn't get along with the coach He dropped out of school to join a sumo stable. He gained A LOT of weight and became the first non-Japanese to become a Yokuzuna. It's a bit late in life for him now; but yes, as a young man Shaq could have become a succesful sumo wrestler IMHO.
