Has anyone bought their home from home depot, or menards or other stores. What was you experience? Are these good ideas? What is the process of buying one of thes homes(building materials) and home placement?

I bought most of my materials from a dealer, almost all my materials I should say.
You should have a good knowledge of building and the trades or have some friends that will help you from time to time. You'd better be able to read blue prints.Take some courses in this, it'll help. A good knowledge of the prices too and the ranges or your going to get "ripped" Keep up your chin.
I didn't plan the time of year I started, In Northern Minnesota, it was Winter and 45 below zero, the second week I got pneumonia and almost died, ended up in the hospital for a week. Then in bed for two more weeks. A real bummer. Then bad weather. Plan your building is what I'm saying. I went backward.
