Why is it that most guys refuse to buy clothes or shoes that are not branded? i mean wats wrong with buying something equally good for half the price?

Because for the most part, girls can buy cheaper clothing and it can still look good. They can dress it up, and no one will have any idea that they paid $10 for it.
Guys' lower priced clothing, on the other hand, tends to look very cheap. If a man is wearing a shirt that cost him $10, 90% of the time you can tell. Plus if he's wearing something like off-brand sneakers, it tends to look kinda lame.
I think that sometimes guys care about fashion and their appearance more than they'd like to admit.

It's not just some guys. Some women as well feel the same way (like myself). For you to generalize this question as only men who do that is incorrect. Plus every clothing or shoe is branded, it's just that some are more popular or known better then the others...that is what you mean.
It's just a preference that certain "people" have. If they want to dress in only popular and well known name brands then let them...if it's their money..their choice.

Because its not something to brag about. For example, a girl you cannot tell where a girl buys her clothes because rarely is the name branded on every inch, but for guys, it is visible whether their clothes are name brand. Simply put, guys dont like bragging about getting something for a cheap price, moreover they like to brag about it being expensive and visually appealing.

most brand names make better quality clothes, not to mention they usually look better. personally, while i like the occasional AE or Hot Topic shirt, most of my clothes (except shoes) r from Wal-Mart, b/c they have good stuff for like $10

Your definition of "most" is inaccurate.
I think it's just whatever type of guys you hang around that are like this. Most men actually couldn't give a damn what company or designer or clothing line made their clothes.
It's the age group, that's what it is. Just wait until they're older.
