Is it also possible that God could create a planet just eight thousand (or so) years ago that contains fossels over a million years old?

Absolutely. God would not create every thing on earth in its infancy or its earliest possible state of existence. He created a mature ecosystem with everything mature. The trees and rocks would all be created as they would exist at full maturity. He would not create all animals in their infancy. They would not be functional. He would create them at the fully functional adult stage. Same way with all plant life and all mineral life, etc. Only makes sense. If a tree took 40 years to mature it would be created in the state of being 40 years old. If a scientist came along the day after it was created and tested it to determine its age it would register as being 40 years old even though it in fact was less than 1 day old. Logical.

Good question.

It is possible for the god you postulate (the god of the christians etc) to both create a man and name him anything he wanted. Its also possible that the world came into being one second ago (or 8000 years, it doesn't matter), with all fossils, memories, etc being created along with it to deceive us. Definately possible, once you have granted the validity of the christian worldview (which i don't). A more interesting question has to be, yes it is possible, but is it probable? For example, looking at the gospel of matthew, is it possible that jesus a) spent exactly 40 days in the desert, and b) was descended directly from david, and c) delivered the entire sermon on the mount in one hit, or even said any of those things at all? Yes, it is possible. But is it probable? No, given that, exegetically speaking, a compelling argument could be (and, indeed, has been) made to demonstrate that the lives of jesus in the synoptic gospels were written to fit in with previously existing texts, and not the other way around

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omphalos_hypothesis

Quote:
==============================
Gosse did not assert that God deceived us, only that any act of creation of human, animal or plant would "at the instant of its creation present indubitable evidences of a previous history" in far more subtle, microscopic and unavoidable ways than the presence or absence of hair or navels. He presented it not as an hypothesis but as a law or logical necessity: any created organism must be "from the first marked with the records of a previous being". The alternative would have been a created earth where trees had no leaves or rings, birds had no feathers, animals had no skin, teeth, bones or blood.

Many Jewish answers to the age of the Universe delve slightly into the Omphalos hypothesis.

Your chronology of events is a bit weird. Cain was sent to Nod, east of Eden. Nod is the root of the verb meaning 'wander' in Hebrew. So he was condemned to 'wander'. Why is there an Egypt? Should there not be? Should the people there not be civilized? Why are there cannibals? Because people are left to themselves and do what is right in their own eyes. Some men worship cows...others worship football teams. Im trying to figure out what your point is.

Let's say that when God created and formed Adam, He created and formed a full version of a man who had no particular age....

He was a man, according to God's standard of what man should be, but when something is new, it really has no particular age, until it begins to age..... Correct?!!!

What we would construe as age, at creation, can be any frame of style possible of a body (even appearing 19).....

Yes.
By definition, God can do anything.
Unless of course, yo ask him to create a rock that is too heavy for him to lift and that it all breaks down in a massive pile of logic.
Of course, the ultimate question isn't "is it possible" but "why would he bother trying to trick us?"

If the Biblical God exists, sure.

When you refer to the Bible please make sure that you have the facts straight.
Nothing in the Bible states that Adam was nineteen, and nothing states exactly how old the earth is. Those are both man made assumptions, and both are debatable.

what is this question in reference to?
Are you talking about thee Adam from Eden?
And what makes you say these felonious numbers of years pertaining to the earth's existance? Be more specific please.
This sounds irrational
