I work 12 hr nights, how can I explain to people who call during my sleep hours that I work nights and need my rest. What kind of a message do tyou leave on the phone so they quit calling and waking me up. I only got two hrs of sleep b/c of the phone ringing yesterday. I do not turn off the ringer b/c I have kids who are out of the house during the day, or in case of emergencies. I had 26 new messages yesterday and each time the phone woke me up.

26 messages???? That's more than I get in a week!

Turn your phone off, and tell the kids to use the cell for emergencies only.

Wow, my Dad used to work shifts like that when I was a teenager. I am going to call him and apologize for all the calls I got while he was trying to sleep during the day.

wow, i used to work nights so i understand. People just dont get it do they??? well, i would probably change my phone number and not give it out to anyone except the school/kids. Otherwise, use your cell for all other numbers and just keep it off.

you could also leave a message on the phone saying "i work 8pm to 8 am, and I sleeping during the day. Calling me at noon is the same as calling YOU at midnight!!"

Here's your message:
Hello, if you have reached my answering machine and this is not an emergency, please call back on_______day when I am off. I work twelve hour shifts at night and really need my rest. Thank you, have a good day.
