In hockey there are two blue lines and one red line in the center of the rink. You can't pass the puck over two lines to a team mate, this is called a two line pass. They do this so that when the puck is in one end someone from that team won't just sit outside the opponents zone and wait for a pass to get behind the opponents defense.

2 line passing meant then when you were in you own zone with your goalie, you passed the puck over you’re blue line and the red line to someone on your team. The NHL Ruling Committee deleted that this year because they wanted a more high-scoring game. The red line is only there for how but doesn’t have any real purpose.

if you passed the puck over the blue line and the red line it would be considered a two line pass. started this year they took out the two line pass which is now allowed but the red line is still there.

you couldnt pass the puck that crosses the blue line and red center line to a team mate or else the play would be stop. that alowed teams to use the trap and made it the dominant playing style. But it made the games more boring and caused less action in the game.

The rule is not in affect anymore but two line passing stopped platers from passing to the other side of center from their own end.
