What started it? Who was to blame for it and why did it happen (i was only 5 yrs old at the time, too young to know much)?

On February 28, 1993, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) raided the Branch Davidian ranch at Mount Carmel, a property located 9 miles east-northeast of Waco, Texas. The raid resulted in the deaths of four agents and six Davidians. The subsequent 51-day siege by the FBI ended on April 19 when fire completely consumed the complex, killing 76 people, including 21 children and Davidian leader David Koresh.

David Keresh. He formed a cult in Waco. The FBI raided them. I remember it lasted for days. People were shot and killed. I beleive they sent the children out of the compound, at least some of them. Then the final days it looked like a war zone. I saw a show on Discovery recently. If you want all the facts, you should see if you can download the show.

To my way of thinking it was the attourney general of the USA. Yhese were an unstable group of cultists with their leader DaVID kORESH and they had way too many firearms. They could have been talked out of there but these poor misled ignorant people followed their leader like sheep and most perished in a fire fight which no one for sure knows who started

in part, even in spite of the undeniable fact that Don Henley likes to be obscure in terms of who he's speaking approximately... the undeniable fact that Henley grew up in Texas probably validates the Koresh reference as nicely...
