Depends upon the cause - if it were such as the original speaker intended, to fightt for the right to be an individual country not ruled by others, to be allowed all the supposed freedoms they were considering at the time? Then yes.
If it meant putting myself in harm's way so that harm would not come to those I love and hold dearest, allowing them escape? Then yes.
If it meant going into the modern army - and by modern I mean anything from Korean War through the horsecrap currently, then no.
