I agree with all answers so far. Donations, clothing, food, toys...etc.
Also, I (personally), think this would be a good idea. Maybe buy Gift Certificates to grocery stores, or a Mall Gift Certificate so that way they can choose what they would like to pick out and buy. Just a thought =) .. or, do both? Entirely up to you what you want to do. God Bless

i have friends that are younger and less fortunate than i am and i try to make christmas interesting for them. they usually stay for a few days which is nice because it can get lonely during the holidays. and i agree that we shouldnt only think of the poor/less fortunate/old/suffering during the holidays they live this way 24/7 /365

I donate clothes and coats. I also volunteer at the Salvation Army's Giving Tree at the local mall where folks buy gifts for less fortunate kids and seniors.

I always get gifts for children at the giving tree at our local mall. I try to get a little something for age 7 or under and one for boy and girl. One year I bought cute little outfits so they would have new clothes for Christmas, but I threw in a little toy with it. My son spent 10 weeks at Children's Hospital in Seattle (Preemie) and my niece had heart surgery down there when she was 13 days old so every year my whole family gets together and we do gift baskets for the staff to hand out toys and other items to the kids that are stuck in there over Christmas.

what do you do, if anything, all year round? Ya know, people aren't only poor and suffering during the christmas season..Sometimes I get frustrated because I watch people buy themselves sainthood a few measly holidays out of the year in order to make them feel better when they buy 5$ lattes at breakfast and lunch all year round while somebody else is curled up in cardboard all too aware of soul crushing dispair every day of the year...

that said, I donate time, energy, and creativity towards educating those around me to world pain and sorrow year round, and by reminding people that if they spent half the money they were spending on their nails, hair, and nike ball caps on their fellow human beings... perhaps this world would be a little more bearable for others.

I think this question you've posted is a good one. thanks for posting!

Seeing as how I'm somewhat less fortunate, I take care of myself.

Try living on baloney sandwiches and chicken noodle soup for a year in order to make ends meet!

I have no kids to buy presents for, and I love to shop for toys.....so I usually go on a Target/ToysRUs frenzy and donate a lot of toys to shelters. Sometimes I do the "wish list" things - where you buy a kid some stuff that they need (clothes, jacket, etc) and then some stuff that they want (toys)
