Yes, I do! Then again, he IS, what? 12 years old? So, he's still pretty much a kid and, therefore, forgivable... but if they decide to continue the series into his adulthood and he doesn't mature at all, then I'll start complaining.

He is a dingbat most of the time, but he is 13 years old, a former prankster and still a kid. He has to make stupid mistakes in order to learn how to be better. Besides, if he was "smart" - he would not be as interesting as he is now.

Thats the point for mostly any kind of main lead. Mostly in a very long running anime. They act goofy and immature but yet serious at another point. These kinda of characters also develop a huge hunger for food. Goku, Usagi (sailor moon) and even the recent character Ginta (mar) share these characteristics. Of course in my retrospect, Luffy is among the best of them all so far. Naruto is still fun to watch. And he'll most likely be kinda the same when the setting changes to when he is 16 *but probally abit more mature than usual*.
