No . Look at the Bible, and any other religious book for the clue that the only way we obtained any scientific or astronomical knowledge were from some race or another that came from "the Heavens". They "ALL" say the same thing. (religious conditioning of primitives). I believe in a GOD, just not the god society has spoonfed the public. There is something out there. I don't personally know , but my heart tells me that there is. If you want to hear some info that made me think twice check out Jason Martell's web site X-FACTS.COM. He makes a good case about the sumerian civilization and their "GODS" from their actual writtings. also check out the DROPA tribe and their experiences with strange people from the sky. The information is out there, you just have to piece it all together yourself. In my opinion not one case, but all the cases together form an accounting of what really happened in our past. AKA the "missing link" that today's scientists, and archeologists can't seem to explain to anyone.

P.S. The theory of evolution that Darwin put together has recently been toppled, and if memory serves me, by Darwin himself just a few years later after it's publication...strange isn't it.

By "we", do you mean the human race, all the earth's species, or all the living thing there is?

If your criteria is more simple (in which bacteria and microbes count), there is guarantee that such organisms will always find a way to exist even in the most hostile of environments.

If by "we" you actually mean a civilisation who has come to a particular state of 'consciousness' and intelligence and has discovered spaceflight, then the odds are considerably lower.

But, as Jodie Foster's character said in the movie Contact, "If it's just us, it seems like an awful waste of space."

I take it you mean, "Is life only on earth in the entire universe". My answer would be no. Other life is outside our perception. We only experience what our senses detect either directly or via instrument. There can be and I believe ther is so much reality outside our perceptive realm.

I'd have to say no, but at the same time, I'm keeping an open mind on account of me realizing and accepting that it is possible for me to be wrong and I dont know for sure :)

No. The aliens told me that last week during the abduction. I didn't believe them at first, 'cause they have those large shifty eyes..... but after probing.... I was convinced.
