I have worked for 5 years at my career and the last two have included extra duties which include team leadership and management. Money is not good. I am only getting a "bonus" which works out to be 1.3% of my annual salary. I have worked so hard that I feel myself working into an early grave. I have tried to get out of it, but my boss won't let me go. I just don't know what to do???

If you feel that you are not being paid what your worth, then you should probably start looking for a new job. My dad is has a job with lots of responsiblity and he doesn't feel that he's getting paid enough. His job includes a lot of responsiblity. He makes about 100,000 a year, but he wants more. He tells his boss to give him a raise, and they do it, becouse they don't want to lose him. He's the best boss that they ever have. You may want to try the same. What do you mean your boss won't let you go. Whats your boss going to do, sue you for quiting. LOL! Theirs not much your boss can do about it. Just make sure you have a back up job, so that you have a job to fall on. When the day comes tell your boss that your out of here. Your boss can not do anything to you, they can't even give you a bad reference if they call him. Its again'ts the law, and if he does, tell him that he's going to have a big lawsuite on his hands.

Do you have enough money stored up you could go without working three months? Do you dread having to go to work? Is there something else you would rather be doing? What are your goals in life? Is your boss just passing off his duties on you or are they trying to do more work with less employees? He might be grooming you for advancement, or trying to encourage you to quit without having to pay your severance/unemployment. I guess I would try and sit down and find out what your chances of a career advancement or pay raise are or will be in the future.
