3700 people died in Iraq last MONTH. How is this not a holocaust?
I am not trying to be offensive to Jewish people - my God is Jewish - but I can see major parallels between what happened in 1939 - 45 and what is happening today. Why is this able to continue? Have we not learnt from our mistakes? Is it deemed OK because the people are Iraqi??? Do we not have sympathy for them? 3700 a month! Comments?

By holocaust, I mean massacre, bloodbath, destruction, extermination - the dictionary definition. I am not trying to get into a political argument - merely point out that these are PEOPLE. And these PEOPLE are dying in vast, and unacceptable numbers.

The situation in Iraq is nothing like the Holocaust, which was systematic genocide. That is, the extermination of people based only on their race. What's happening in Iraq is the result of a war between different factions and religions of the people there. Most of those 3700 deaths were the result of the cicil war that has broken out there between the Shiites and the Sunnis. I am a veteran agaisnt that war, but the comparison with the Holocaust is wildly inaccurate. You would do better to compare Iraq with what happpened in Vietnam during the 60's and '70's.

You are very offensive to Jewish people, but it looks no Jew read your question. I understand what you mean to say but you should not use the word "holocaust" here. I have studied about the real Holocaust and I know it was something that cannot be compared to what is happening now. I agree with the answer of drummerboy.
I was against Iraq war from the beginning, but it doesn't help to make improper comparisons. It is like the people who compare Bush to Hitler.

First of all, where were you when Sadam was killing 10's of thousands? Then there is the fact that Iraqis are killing Iraqis in the name of freedom. It is kind of a civil war. Do you know how many died in the civil war of the USA. Freedom never comes free. In the 2nd World War, Hitler ordered the extermination of all Jews, No-one has ordered the extermination of the Iraqi people except those who want the war to continue, namely the Taliban. So, once the Iraqis find peace, and the USA is not needed anymore, they will leave and hope the peace lasts. As for you, you had better go back to grade school and relearn what is going on in the world.

That's what happens when you start a war, especially when you don't go in with a plan to end it.
Makes 9/11 look like nothing. But see these aren't Americans, so in America you might as well be complaining about dead mice.
Still, nothing compared to a bad day in WWI.
Very, very, sad.

Because of our leadership. They had no ideal what they were getting into. It is a war than can not be won and because of Bush's pride he won't turn back. You are right. it is very sad. The people over there will never change. It is an unwinnable war.
