yes it hurts a LITTLE, but its not as bad as most guys think.

but then again, this might only be because i have very slight cramps.
some people have very, very, very painful cramps (take for example, one of my friends, who nearly always misses school on the first day of her period) and they need to take some kind of medicine to maintain control of it....
some people also experience sudden mood changes, lower back pains, bloating (like you ate too much for breakfast), and it's just really... uncomfortable.
and also the feeling that you havw to go to the bathroom every three or four hours.... or... you know, it's really embarassing.

so, yeah, i guess it hurts, but not that much physical pain.
but then again, it depends from person to person.
hope this helps.

Let me put it delicately. Have you ever had the kind of diarrhea - like food poisoning where your lower intestine feels like it's twisting into knots and burning and you get cold chills running down your spine? Well sometimes period cramps are like that. Sometimes it's not that bad - but still, we may need to lay in bed with a heating pad and taking Midol helps. It depends on the girl. Since it's all internally happening in the woman's body, it's hard for guys to understand how it feels. Imagine if once a month, your sperm decided to leave your body of its own accord. Imagine it tearing itself away in a bloody mess and flowing out of your p*nis - blood and all. Then imagine having to keep yourself padded for 5 days, or having to stuff yourself with cotton so that the flow of blood didn't mess up your clothes or sheets. Add to that the 5 days of pain and then going about your life as if everything were peachy keen wondering constantly if any stains were showing or anyone can smell the scent of blood on you. That's kind of how it is for women. So even on days when it doesn't hurt much, it's still a pain.

Hope this helps. Have sympathy and just be patient with her.

Actually, having a period is really not that easy.. Maybe guys like you won't understand at once why is that? Of course you will never be in that situation. But, you know what? Being a woman is very complicated especially when a girl reaches the age of adolescence that one must expect the coming of that so called "period". Most of us girls within that period experience "dysmenorrhea". It is painful! No kidding... We experience pain in the lower part of abdomen that really makes us uneasy and not in the mood to do something. So mostly, we just choose to stay at home.. Sometimes, it causes us not to go to school or to work... Well.. But actually, a girl must also learn to control her moods when that "period" comes.. So as not to affect her social and emotional life. But I must say, that boys must also be understanding if ever a girl can't really handle that situation that much.. Just try to understand us, please....

Yes, it is that bad. Mileage varies for each woman, but some can get cramps so bad that they are bedridden for a day or several days. We also have to deal with hormone fluctuations, which cause a variety of symptoms, from mood swings to food cravings to exhaustion.

To replicate what your friends are feeling, here's what to do: first, stay up really late for a week. Eat a lot of salt. Get addicted to lots of caffeine, and then suddenly give it up. Lift very heavy weights. Now you are cranky, tired, bloated, prone to mood-swings, and you hurt. Now imagine this happening every month while also bleeding out of one of your orifices and having to deal with guys who claim it's all in your head.

Sometimes it can be very painful. You get a feeling like you ate way too much (bloating) and then you can feel cramping (muscle cramping, similar to the cramping a person gets with real bad diarrhea) in the abdomen. It is not a pleasant feeling. To answer your question...yes it can be that bad and yes, it can hurt a lot.

I read your answer to the douche question. I'm glad I got a chance to answer one for you.

Having a period is as big of a beeyotch as they say. And it's worse it the female has fibromyalgia. You don't have to worry, though. Your douching will wipe away your cramps, boy! Kinda like windshield wipers for dumba$$es.

Ask them to show you how much it hurts, like squeezing your hand. It's not an excuse; many, many girls (and women) have pain just before their period. If you were smart, you'd offer to heat up a hot water bottle for them, or even give them chocolate! You will be appreciated!

Maybe a kick in the groin and a punch in the stomach might get close to what it's like.

Pms makes you moody, irritable and have cravings. It varies from woman to woman. The cramps, if you have them, can be terrible and make you feel extremely sick.
