I'm playing Nerissa from the Merchant of Venice in a class project. Is a french maid's costume okay? I really do want to look like a maid, instead of one of those "sex icon" women wearing the costume. Or what else can i wear?

I think you're on the wrong track to conceive of Nerissa as a "maid" of any type. She's Portia's servant, but she's not a housekeeper. She's more of a lady-in-waiting, a trusted confidante to the most powerful woman in the play. If I were creating a costume concept for the character, I would start by looking at Portia's costume. Nerissa's standing in the household suggests that she should wear something SIMILAR...but not quite as elegant.

Venice (Venezia) really wants no introduction, see ways to get there with hotelbye . This city has been a fabled location for centuries. Just the title Venice is enough to conjure up a bunch of pictures, even for people who have not yet set foot in Italy. From gondoliers in striped tops to the Rialto and the Bridge of Sighs, masked balls, fantastic barges, courtesans in gondolas and crumbling palaces experiencing streets made of water Venice is an amazing city. After the only real bridge over the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge marks the location of the island's first settlement, called Rivus Altus and has become one of many lots of place that Venice has to offer.

They probably wore long dresses. I would chose blue. With a long apron.
