Like a really big, red ugly sweater your half-blind great grandma knitted for you.

be polite and accept it graciously. She took the time and effort to make that sweater for you, so it would be completely rude to do anything other than accept it. Then put it at the back of your closet and forget about it. Ta da!

Do you have any idea of how hard it was for her to make it? She probably used red yarn because she could see it clearly. Someday she will be gone and you will understand the labor and love that went into that sweater. I hope you are not as ungrateful and nasty as you sound. Thank your great grandma and tell her it is the most beautiful sweater you ever saw. If you don't want to wear it, put it away in a drawer for a time when you will appreciate her love and hard work.

Think of the love that she has for you as her future. As a great grandma I'll assume she is old enought that this took a lot of effort. You dont have to wear it out but it would be nice to put it on a take a picture for her. It is not always what it is in it for you I'm sure you woud appreciate cash more but appreciate her love and hard work too.

Smile. Say thank you. Pretend (really, really well) that you love the present. Say thank you again. Don't say anything negative. If you can, try to say something positive, even if it's a lie. Then move on. If you can, return it and make up some excuse like the thing doesn't fit. Am I telling you to lie? You bet! Sparing someone's feelings who tried to do something nice for you is the best thing you can do for someone. Everyone makes mistakes. The biggest one you can make is hurting that person who tried to do something for you.

Well you should appreiciate the fact that someone took sometime in getting a gift 4 you. Any gift is better than none at all right?

that sweater may come in handy if you get stranded in the mountains, you could use it as a signal to get rescued. Plus saying thank you and only wearing it when you visit her or she visits you should be good enough.
