Well my great uncles used to say it was filmed on a set, but then they also used to say the rest of the 8 point buck on the living room wall was in the bedroom (on the other side). Since NASA is always fighting over ownership of "space dust" or rocks smuggled out of the lunar program, I think it's safe to say they actually made it there and back. And I remember when the shuttle was introduced we were supposed to have a manned space colony on the moon by now. But then President Carter was attacked by a deadly assasin rabbit while canoeing at Camp David, and the world has slowly descended into chaos ever since.

Yes, 6 different Apollo missions landed men on the moon (Apollo 11 - 17, except for 13 which experienced problems and simply looped around the moon and returned to earth). If you want to see for yourself, find somebody with a short-focus telescope and you can see the landing site with your own eyes.

I actually shot that film in my backyard. I used a hand held 16mm camera and Armstrong was played by my Mexican gardener. The spaceship you see in the background was my old modified 57 Chevy.
