My BFG GeForce FX 5500OC 256MB AGP Video Card, that I bought last year, fan has died. The fan does not come off and I no longer have the reciept, what should I do?

at least I don't think it comes off, it does just seem like the coolent is what's keeping it on.

First thing take out the card and look for any ID numbers on it. These will be helpful to you later. Call up their customer service people and explain to them what has happened. If you only bought this a year ago then it is most likely still under warranty. You may have to supply them with the ID numbers on the card if you no longer have the receipt.

I would need to actually see either the diagram specs or better yet a specimen - but the fan actually should be removable, along with other components (though it might be a real pain).

However, you should also be able to contact nVidia (who I believe still makes the GeForce line...) via web or phone, and get instructions on getting a replacement.

In my experience they've been very good about this, so you shouldn't have any problems.

If you do - gimme an email - because I will be irate and perhaps retract some of my earlier statements, and make some unpleasant statements to some OEMs I know.

Check the cables or reconnect them after unplugging it. If your issue still persists and it is under warrenty, take it to the vendor and you should get an easy replacement for the same. For more help contact the Support on http://www.bfgtech.com/tech_redux.html
