You'll need an undergraduate degree and teaching certification. A lot of provinces are also beginning to require a Bachelor of Education degree (that you obtain AFTER your first degree), so if you don't get one now you may need to go back to school in five or ten years to upgrade. I would recommend doing your first degree in General Studies while selecting classes from the subjects that are taught in elementary schools. This will give you a great foundation.
