Instructions
STEP 1: Lay a fresh diaper on a changing table, or on a towel or mat on the floor.
STEP 2: Place your baby, tummy side up, on top of the clean diaper.
STEP 3: Unfasten the diaper tabs on the soiled diaper.
STEP 4: Hold your baby's feet together and very gently lift them up, raising the baby's bottom. Use the clean part of the diaper to wipe away any excess stools, then fold over the soiled section of the diaper and set the old diaper aside.
STEP 5: Wipe your baby's buttocks and genitals gently from front to back with baby wipes. Don't forget the lower back and the skin folds of the thighs. (A baby girl might get stools around her labia and vagina, so clean that area gently with baby wipes.)
STEP 6: Lower your baby's bottom onto the clean diaper.
STEP 7: Pat the area dry with a towel; cornstarch powder is optional.
STEP 8: Apply diaper-rash cream to the area if necessary.
STEP 9: Make sure to pull up the back of the clean diaper high enough to prevent leaks. Position the front of the diaper just under the baby's abdomen.
STEP 10: Bring the tabs around from the back of the diaper and fasten them to the front.
STEP 11: Turn diapering into a game of peek-a-boo to distract your baby.

very carefully! - you could get sprayed or worse!
The mechanics depend on the type of diaper. Cloth or disposable. If cloth, study how it came off - if disposable, read the instructions on the package. Be frank with the mom and ask - practice on a doll.
Main thing is that the baby be clean and dry when you are finished - baby powder, however, should be used with care - don't breathe the dust and be sure the baby doesn't either. Best to put it on your own hands and rub the baby's skin. Talc is a cumulative poison - gets into your lungs and stays there, causing damage all the while.
Be sure you wash your hands before and after - before so as to not put germs on the baby - after for obvious reasons. Girls are harder to clean that boys - more places for the mess to hide.
Good Luck

Undo the diaper, grab their legs (both) and lift them up(gently), remove the diaper. Now I know you're doing this on a safe, clean surface... Use a baby wipe and wipe from genital to anus until all is clean. Use a sprinkling of baby Powder to reduce chafing and raise again for new diaper (if unsure Read packaging) and pat all sides and check to make sure it's no tight around the waist.

put baby on changing mat tummy up, take of diaper, wipe, put diaper back on, wash hands.
If you do not know how to change a diaper why are these people leaving a baby in your care? Its common sense and mabye you should not babysit if you cant change a diaper. I would not leave my baby in the care of someone who cant do that. Mabye you should reconsider?
