I guess people just don't know how to chill out and just relax and go with the flow. If they are that easily offended, they shouldn't go to comic club - they're going to make fun of races of people - that's what they do!

By the way, he had a show the next night that went off without any glitches, including a full audience that appreciated his act. So I don't buy the whole audience was not impressed act. The black guys started in on him first, not the other way around.

Because he said n***er... you don't use that word in a comic act. And if you think that was part of the act, you must not ahve seent he video if it. He defffffinitely lost his temper. I get pissed at black people, but I don't call them n***ers. Plus he never personally never apologized. There's a difference between n***er and n***a too.. but he said the first one and said that this was 50 years ago he'd be in chains or some stuff. He got heckled and lost it. The heckler should not have been heckling and Micheal should not have lost it like that. Both were wrong in this case in my opinion.

Maybe you don't know all the facts. Richard's racist remarks (although they didn't belong "within his act") were not part of his act. He became incensed because a couple of black people in the audience shouted out that he wasn't funny. He launched an attack on these specific people saying, "Fifty years ago, you'd be upside down with a fork in your a s s !" and continued with calling them *****rs, and shouting for security to throw them out. (Professional comedians know how to handle hecklers. Michael Richards is obviously not a professional.)

The audience gasped with "Oh my God"'s ...etc. It was not well received, and it was not part of his "act" although it didn't belong in his act either.

It wasn't comedy. It was real life the way Michael Richards saw it. Even if it were "part of the act" .. do you consider that comedy?

You probably didnt' know that or you wouldn't be condoning it.

Oh yeah .. One more thing ... Thumbs down to the Thumbs Down Fairy! (And since there is only 1 per response, I'm thinking it is the ASKER of this question - no one responding to this question has agreed with you! Right on, Mama!

Well, I think that he was definitely inappropriate and offensive...there really is no debating that. I have to say that I don't think it is something he should be legally prosecuted for. The guys that he insulted are working with that Allred lawyer (can't think of her first name) to have some kind of charges filed. I wouldn't do that if someone hurled a racial slur at me. There are racist, sexist comments in rap music but we don't hold them accountable. Anyway, I think it was something he should publicly apologize for but unfortunately now we know how he feels and he can't really take that back.

It is real life. He really used racist language. His performance contained aggressively racist language. A professional should not be unable to handle hecklers. He had better choices in dealing with heckling.

He behaved very offensively, far below the standard of civilized behavior. People who were offended are not overly sensitive.

It wasn't comedy anymore. He crossed the line... and it wans't the 1st time either!

He's a 57 year old television actor, not a live, stand up comic, accustomed to hecklers. I've lost a lot of respect for him.

Minorities (especially of the darker persuasion) will complain abount and make themselves out to be the victim in most situations, especially when they were the cause of the problem to begin with. Michael Richards isn't a racist, he is just an honest human being and there is nothing wrong with that!

It wasn't comedy. He was angry and deliberately insulting member of the audience.

I don't believe comedy should be at the expense of others. Just because they said something wrong doesn't make it right for him to make racial comments.
