It might be possible our universe is a substitute for another universe that resembles that alternate universe. Astronomers have stated among themselves that there's another universe that has a planet exactly like ours, but its not called earth. What is your valued opinion on all this?

Its possible both universes share many of the characteristics because they are similar.

Well, that is a valid theory indeed. However if parallel universes exist (often called "multiverse"), there is likely to be a limitless amount of them instead of just one, acting out the infinite branches of all probabilities. And why would ours be a backup? Parallel multiverse have no core universe and subsequently no backups either.

I like these kind of questions, but is it possible to cite where you got that bit about the astronomers' statement? It might help me understand the context of your question better. Thanks.

theres only one universe. there are many different galaxies though. In the vastness of space there is bound to be other planets just like ours and possibly even identical to a point. It is known that there is one scientists have spotted which resembles ours and may have a liveable atmosphere but because it is so far away we won't know until we figure out light speed traveling, warping, etc. we are not a back up galaxy though.

My opinion is that it's entirely possible. But, like all speculation about alternate, parallel universes and/or other dimensions beyond those we know of, there's absolutely not a single shred of physical evidence that such is the case.

If so, we won't know it for we don't have the possibility to find out about such thing.
