He can't do any of that. He was willing to suffer that to get 100 kids and their families $500 gift cards to Target for Salvation Army. The links below may help explain it better. The first link is why he did the whole stunt and the second link is his escape video. :)

Funny, I saw this question just as the Target commercial came on. Only this time it shows the gyro empty and the voice over says; "Looks like David Blaine will be there, will you?" To answer your question; I agree totally with MaryJane. We have not heard ANYTHING from Blaine in quite some time. Sure, 100 kids will get to spend some money, who is that really helping? Target, which is a French owned corporation and channels all of its profits back to France. Blaine; an out of work magician that needs some green. Yeah, I think we may see some adverts for a special in the near future!

For the kids and for Target...advertisement. After all he a great magician. It promotes his career and hopefully creates more sales for the store. Advertisement has to have a gimmick to get your attention. It worked didn't it? I'm sure he wasn't up there long, it just appears that way in the commercial.

This man needs to get a bloody life! He's going to end up killing himself for real one of these times. Probably did the target thing because he needed the money for screwing up his last stunt. Obviously that man's oxygen to his brain has ceast a few times too many!

really that he did it for kids was nice...but two words
SELF PROMOTION
Have you heard or seen anything about him in awhile? NO. SO he had to generate some press for himself. I bet he will have a special or something coming out in the next few weeks. Don't be fooled by the propganda really.

He ate, slept, and pottyed the same way he does in all his stunts. And only he knows how he does that.
