ok to all of you who are saying i should just tell her how i feel -- ive already done that like a billion times.
and to whoever said im not old enough to make my own decisions -- i definatly am old enough. im verry mature and i make verry good decisions. for one i am straight edge, which means i dont drink, smoke, do drugs, or have premiscuous sex. and two all my friends are the same way and we dont get into trouble like most teenagers out there today.
and im not really gonna play the song or whatever. i dont think so anyways. i was just trying to find some powerfull, meanigfull, words to say to her or something to that effect.
i think its just bc im the oldest out of the children and she is kind of still learning with me. im like the experiment.

At your age, it's tempting to believe that songs have some sort of mystical power to influence someone's behavior. And it may work on a teenager. But trust me on this... it won't work on a parent. In fact, it will have the opposite effect. It will just make her think "Oh, God... I can't believe she thinks I'm going to change my parenting style because of some dumb song.... what a child!"

PS. I know it's annoying now, but one day, when you turn out to be a successful, well-adjusted, independent, educated adult, you'll give your mom a big hug and thank her for taking such good care of you.

Oh, and I'm absolutely DYING with laughter that people are suggesting a BRITNEY F'ING SPEARS song for this! BWAHAHAHA!!!! Oh my God! Most parents think she is the biggest piece of trailer-park-trash on the planet!

I agree, if you're trying to tell her how you feel, then don't be shy just tell her how you feel. Maybe she's wanting to tell you something but is too shy herself and doesn't know how to tell you just like you don't know how to tell her. Communicate with each other. Communication is a sign of maturity and independence. Show her you have these qualities. Give her a chance. Sure, you 2 might start arguing. So what? At least you'll be communicating. As for a song, find one for yourself that makes you feel good. I mean, even if you found a song that said EXACTLY what you wanted to say to your mom, she probally wouldn't have a clue that's what you felt. So just talk to her and good luck to ya both :-)

don't use a song. sit her down some evening and just tell her how you feel. let her know that you are slowly becoming an adult and would like to be able to have a little more freedom and responsibility. then, prove to her that you can handle it. come home when she tells you to, help out around the house, keep up on your schoolwork. all of this will show her that you are capable of handling more freedom and will make her more willing to give it to you.

Your mother has a job to do and she is doing it well. You are not yet old enough to decide for yourself what you should be doing. You are at her mercy until you begin to pay your own way in life. Cat's in the cradle is a good song.

Wind beneath my wings by Bette Midler it is sappy but it will let her know that you understand how important she is in your life.

how about "overprotected" by britney spears!

"Say hello to the girl that I am!
You're gonna have to see through my perspective
I need to make mistakes just to learn who I am
And I don't wanna be so damn protected..."

[Spoken:]
I need time (time)
Love (love)
Joy (joy)
I need space
I need me
(Action!)

Say hello to the girl that I am!
You're gonna have to see through my perspective

I need to make mistakes just to learn who I am
And I don't wanna be so damn protected
There must be another way
Cause I believe in taking chances
But who am I to say
What a girl is to do
God, I need some answers

What am I to do with my life
(You will find it out don't worry)
How Am I supposed to know what's right?
(You just got to do it your way)
I can't help the way I feel
But my life has been so overprotected

I tell 'em what I like
What I want
What I don't
But every time I do I stand corrected
Things that I've been told
I can't believe what I hear about the world, I realize
I'm Overprotected

There must be another way
Cause I believe in taking chances
But who am I to say
What a girl is to do
God I need some answers

What am I to do with my life
(You will find it out don't worry)
How Am I supposed to know what's right?
(You just got to do it your way)
I can't help the way I feel
But my life has been so overprotected

I need… time (love)
I need… space
(This is it, this is it)

I don't need nobody's
Tellin me just what I wanna
What I what what what I'm gonna
Do about my destiny
I Say No, No
Nobody's telling me just what what what I wanna do, do
I'm so fed up with people telling me to be
Someone else but me

(Action!)

What am I to do with my life
(You will find it out don't worry)
How Am I supposed to know what's right?
(You just got to do it your way)
I can't help the way I feel
But my life has been so overprotected

just stop being such a little drama queen and stay out of the house for awhile, just go away, stay the night somewhere and don't tell her and make it seem like it's no big deal. You don't have to be all dramatic and tell her with a song. sheeesh
