depends on you. Are you an experienced rider who has taken the MSF saftey course and rides with proper gear and defensive riding style? Or are you some macho kid who is gonna buy an over powered rocket just on a whim and go popping wheelies down the freeway in your flip flops and a tank top after a few beers? Secondly, what else comes with a risk of death? Driving a car does, as well as things like taking a shower or eating out. You can die from anything. Its up to you to decide what you are willing to do and what you are not willing to do. I wouldnt trade my motorcycle for anything. I love to ride and sure I could get killed on it, but I dont do stupid things to increase the chances i will get killed on it. Besides, I would rather die doing something i love than live a long safe life filled with regrets.
and keep in mind, of the 42,800 people that died on US roads in 2004, only 9.2% of those were on motorcycles. Seems like lots of people are able to die in a car just fine.

Wherever traffic is heavy there is a better chance of getting into an accident. Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, or any other city, it doesn't matter. You always have to be aware of what's going on all around you, even behind, no matter where you ride. The risk of death is all around you, driving a car, riding in a plane, falling in your bathtub, you get the picture. You can't ride if you're worrying about getting killed. Riding a bike carries a risk of death, but so does just living. Ride and have fun.

I'm a daily rider in LA traffic... probably just as bad as dallas traffic. Your chances of dying are higher than in a car, but not high enough to stop you from riding. Personally, the fun wayyyyy offsets the risk of death. But the fun part is not riding in traffic; it's going for a nice ride on the weekend, going out to a track day, and drinking and riding, just kiddin...

I would have to say just as bad as driving in any other high traffic area, and depending on how the other people around you are driving, for example: you never know if someone has been having just a plain bad day, has been drinking, or the use of other illegal drugs so that all depends on the circumstances!!!! But as always be afraid... be very, very afraid... just kidding, however be cautious to others around you and drive safe!!!

Depends on how well you pay attention. I ride in Houston traffic and we have more traffic than Dallas does. More than 3.1 million on the road here.
I have not been killed, because I pay attention to what others are doing first.

Life is a risk. Riding any motorcycle is asking to be injured or killed because you have essentially zero protective structure around your body. All you can do is drive better than the idiots around you.

Everything has risk but they don't call them "donor cycles" in the ER for nothing. The problem is the motorists who "never saw him" until he went flying over top of their car, I've seen it myself but luckily the guy landed on a lawn in a 40 mph zone.
