Yes, true diversity makes the United States stronger. The problem is that because of certain people illegally crossing our borders, they are slowly squeezing out all the other nationalities that want to come to America. This certain race is draining our resources causing our taxes to go up because we, the taxpayers, end up paying for their medical bills, and at the same time, the number of people allowed entrance from other countries has had to be serverely restricted. I have friends who want to come to the United States legally, but the waiting list is years and years. Is this fair? No, I am not a racist. But I do believe that our country should be open to all nationalities equally, and should enter the country legally.

It's a bit too late to be asking "IF" it is a good thing.. because you can't reverse cultural diversity.. unless you start commiting acts of genocide.. in which case you are no better than Hitler!!
So stop even asking such lurid and idiotic questions.. and deal with the fact that most of the Western world.. especially USA, UK and Australia.. will remain multicultural.. and it was largely that multi-cultural diversity that got those nations founded in the first place.
Trust me.. USA and Austrlia have historys only dating hundreds of years anyway.. who else do you think inhabited those country's, and equiped them at the start??
IT WAS OTHER CULTURES!!

I think we are great in spite of the diversity.
But, on second thought, you might have a point. Not that the races have contributed anything to each other; but, that the competition and challenges presented by each race has encouraged us to rethink social, political, and business decisions.
When I was in school, this diversity you speak of was called a melting pot. Recently, the illegal Mexicans have not melded with us, and you have probably experienced the problems caused by their disrespect for our laws and health standards.
Have you caught the illegal alien pnumonia, yet. How about the illegal mexican TB (which is not curable).

I think that there are lot of other factors that make the U.S. a great country- mainly our freedoms and ideals, but yes, after those, diversity is one of our lovely aspects. However, even if we didn't have such diversity, we'd still be an awesome country.

I think it has more to do with a free market economy and our desire to take smart people from poor nations so they have the opportunity to succeed
