Depends what that person or you want..

Do you want availability? You don't want to be the 1,001th person in line at Best buy on a rainy day, if you don't go for the Xbox 360.. It can be bough from almost any gaming store and they'll always be in stock... Next choice is Wii, it is harder to get then the 360, however Nintendo is shipping lot of them out so the chances are your nearest Best buy has few in stock by the end of November. PS3, wow... Just don't get ran over..

Do you want less chance of it failing? Lets face it. Have you ever saw the look on a person's face when their Christmas present broke the next or the same day they got it? Xbox360 is known to have failed their customers due to overheating, system damage(3 rings of death), and their fall update seems to be screwing themselves in the ***. However if you get the newer model and the 400$ one, there are less chance of it breaking down. I also hear that Nintendo Wii is having some troubles and lets not forget the man who broke his 60" HDTV due to his Wii controller slipping out of his hand while he was Wii Bowling. But all good things have a higher chance of it breaking down.

Gaming..? The Xbox 360 has a VERY STRONG line up of games, Gears of War, Halo 3, Halo 2, Halo Wars, Oblivion.. The list goes on.. Your gift receiver can have much more games to choose from with the 360, Xbox Live is much more advance and pricey then the other 2 console.Nintendo Wii also has some pretty good games out, mostly intended for 12yr old, Zelda, Wii Sports, and it provides a whole new gaming experience that the whole family can enjoy.. PS3 has very few good games out, and more are soon to come, but it's not as strong as the Wii or the 360.

Price? Nintendo Wii is VERY AFFORDABLE, at the price of 250$ while the Xbox 360 has 2 versions. The sucky one which is the Core at 300$ and the good and not as faulty one Premium at 400$.. The PS3 has also 2 versions the sucky horrible 20GB one at 500$ and the good, more space, 60GB one at 600$...

Well I might have missed some stuff to cover. But in the end it all depends who is your man/women you want to give the gift to. A 5yr old boy, it would be more appropriate to get him a Wii since its cheap, fun, and not violent and bloody gory, but that doesn't mean it's only limited to kids. If you have a 13 or above year old boy the Xbox 360 or the PS3 is good, it has more Teen and Mature games.

It also depends if you have HDTV or if that person wants to view DVDs or likes to upload his Ipod and such... Xbox360 can connect to your computers Windows Media XP and your Ipod, from XboxLive it can download Movies and TV shows at a price. And it supports HDTV, plus it plays DVDs, and it has a 200$ addon package that allows it to play HD-DVD. The Nintendo doesn't support DVDs or HDTV (Well it can still play on them just it doesn't provide an extra wire and .. etc), but it has a free download center to download old school games like Sonic and Mario, it also can play Game Cube games. PS3 supports Blu-Ray DVDs and HDTV (However it doesn't have an Automatic detection from what I heard, so once you hook it up to a HDTV it can't play on a normal TV(Source is from Yahoo Review), and from what my friend said, I heard you can't share games due to them being locked onto their original PS3 consoles, but this can only be a rumor), it also has a free Mulitplayer and a massive capacity too, 40players on one map in Resistance: Fall of Man.

However I would love to get the Xbox 360, because I'm a resourceful man who can fix and send in things when they break and I love the games on the 360. The Game of the Year which is Gears of War (Just went over Halo 2) and the future games coming out for it, Halo Wars, Halo 3.. But if your a true gamer, you would get all 3 consoles.. But get the PS3 next year... It's Wii vs the 360.

All of them would make good gifts. The first issue you should consider is availability. The 360 can be bought just about anywhere, the PS3 is almost impossible to find, and the Wii is somewhere in the middle. You should also consider who you are buying it for and check out which games are available for all the systems. If the intended receiver is a Halo fan you should buy the 360, a Zelda fan would want a Wii, and a Jak fan would want a PS3. You should also consider the price of accessories and games that the receiver will want to buy in the future. If they can't afford to spend $50 on a game you might want to consider a different gift altogether. The game(s) you buy them will only last so long, and they will eventually have to buy more.

PS3 but that's impossible to get unless you're willing to spend a few thousand on eBay. Besides that, the 360 then the wii. 360 is better for someone older while the wii is better from someone younger in my opinion.
