It'll never happen as long as Selig is commissioner. He's already made that clear. Selig was a very close friend to Bart Giamatti (the commissioner who banned Rose) and would never do anything to overturn Giamatti's decision.
He's currently banned from the HOF ballot because players who are banned from baseball are not allowed on the ballot. If the baseball ever reinstates him he will then be eligible for the HOF ballot. The HOF has already said that if that happens he will be voted upon by the Veterans Committee (which consists of all living enshrined members of the Hall of Fame). I don't believe that the VC will let him in since many of the HOF members have stated that they do not want him in.
That's a long-winded way of saying no, he won't get in. If the ban ever gets lifted, the Veterans Committee won't elect him.
I should note that the composition of the Veteran's Committee has been changed on multiple occassions. Sometimes it has consisted on veteran baseball writers and only a handful of Hall members, among several other compositions. So if the membership of the VC gets changed again, well, you never know what they will decide. But Rose still has to become eligible first, and I don't see that happening for quite a long time, if ever.

The Selig commissioner needs to go away before Rose gets in the Hall of Fame.
They go off about what a creep Rose is but Babe Ruth used to booze it up with women on his off seasons and even during his playing times. He still made the Hall of Fame. I betcha Darryl Strawberry makes it before Rose and Strawberry is drug addict!
So you can see this is really a war of personalities not a about the rules that were broken. The guy did break a lot of records and that is what you put in there, baseball records that were set or broken, not what good or bad personality the player was at the time.

He'll be put in...but he'll be dead before it happens. He's getting up there in years and Selig won't let him while he is still alive. I would bet that Bud Selig has a longer lifespan than Pete. It's absurd that he's being treated like this for gambling. Yeah, he is a dirty, pathetic old man. But as a Cincinnatian, I still love him.
I think folks who are reinstated after multiple drug convictions are more danger to the integrity of the game than a man with a gambling addiction. I think that players found to be steroids users should be forced to watch videos of the kids who overdose or have terrible reactions to the steroids because they see it as a path to success...but I will get off my high horse now.

Pete rose is the best player of all time. He should be put in the hall of fame. The #1 reason he is the best player of all time is because of his 125% effort he put into every game. When he walked, he ran to first, when he hit a single, he turned it into a double, when he hit a routine pop fly, didnt matter he was running the bases. And the #2 reason is of course he is the all time hit leader.

Pete Rose will get into the HOF after Bug Selig is gone. Rose deserves to be in the HOF. He also deserved to be banned for life from the game.

There's no chance in hell Rose will get in. If he apologized when it was first discovered that he bet on baseball, he might be forgiven, but it's too late now. He stained his record and his name forever. Right up there with the Black Sox.

if joe jackson isn't in, pete shouldn't get in before him. joe jackson is truely deserving, his only fault was being an illiterate fool.
but really buck oneal is the player that should be inducted. he did more the sport of baseball than anyone aside from jackie robinson and owner blanch rickey.
