The NFL network is off to a really shakey start. I personally thought they did a very poor job broadcasting their first ever live game. I noticed several mistakes. Most were by Mr. Gumbel.

Your thoughts?

Bryant Gumbel is an irritating, whiny, arrogant and egotistical jerk. Trying to listen to him call a football game almost made me sick. He delivered his commentary in a cold, detached manner that was unappealing and boring. This was an NFL game not a news broadcast. If this is all the NFL Network has to offer in the way of game calling then I sure don't look for them to last long. Nor do I look for myself to be watching anymore of their games.

You're right, the NFL Network did get off to a rookie start last night as there were more than enough technical glitches along with some blunders by Gumble.

I believe it would be best to give the network the benefit of the doubt and some time to work out these problems. Broadcasting NFL games is no small undertaking and is something most viewers simply take for granted.

I'll cast my vote for a new list of commentators though. Mr Gumble is actually very good with content that is pre-writtten (Real Sports - HBO) but obviously is not near as fluent when it comes to working on the fly. Collinsworth needs to go to school as well!

Hopefully, we'll notice improvement with the NFL network broadcasts by the end of the season.

He has put on a little weight hasn't he. Honestly I didn't know what to think at first. I agree with some of your other answers though. I don't care for his personality but then there are alot of announcers that drive me crazy. He doesn't really seem to know the game. I think I hate the commercial breaks more then Gumbel.

I was just about to comment on this. I don't think the guy knows very much about football, and he also has an annoying whiny voice. Every time I hear him talk...I just think about what Paul Mooney said. "White people love Wayne Brady, because he makes Bryant Gumbel look like Malcolm X." LMFAO!

I watched about 2 minutes of that game and had to turn it off. I just couldn't listen to Bryant Gumbel. His voice is like finger nails on a chalkboard to me. He just comes across as so egotistical and pretentious.

We are spoiled, we should be thankful our TV is this good. Try watching a soccer game on Somalian television and you wont even care anymore.
