when the new laws they make all the time reguarding our security clearly affect and change our way of life?

I've wondered that myself. I guess it's better than saying, "We will let the terrorists destroy our way of life." It seems like someone is always trying to destroy our way of life. If its not one thing, its another. They just keep coming and coming. I guess it gets votes and allows politicians to have a way of life that most of the rest of us don't enjoy.

Because, hopefully, it's one of the agendas that they will adhere to.

As for the communists in South East Aisia, never did they threaten our shores as the Islamic radicals have on countless occasions.

The threat is real - their agenda is clear - the Islamic terrorists' resolve is proven - their tactics are brutal and merciless - and they have been perpetrating acts of war against Americans since 1979.

Iraq is the center of our war on terror. Syria, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and the rest of the world knows this - why don't we know this?

And, of course, some of our freedoms that we take for granted certainly enabled the terrorists to infiltrate this country and carry out the events of 9/11 - obviously, these freedoms cannot be taken so lightly any more, and "our way of life" has changed - we must not bury our heads in the sand any longer - until this threat is eliminated, we must be alert.

Presumably the laws they make don't "destroy" our way of life to the extent that terrorists would like to if they could get away with it.

None of the security laws affect the average person in the street. They sure don't affect me (as a previous poster said I'd soon queue for my plane a bit longer than get blown up), while terrorists do, as its exactly "average" people in the street like me they are targetting.

Politicians manipulate mass paranoia through fear. We (and I use We lightly) think that by surrendering our rights we are protecting ourselves from ultimate destruction. But let's not just point at politicians, but the media as well. If there is one murder, it gets more headlines than 50 good things that can happen in the same course of time. This media coverage creates chaos and mass spending. Look at how many guns people from the States have bought since the terrorist attacks. Think plastic sheets, duct tape, bottled water, and batteries, everytime Bush yells "yellow light". It's like saying: Shoppers, on your mark, go blow your money on stupid things.
Take note that the only time Bush yells yellow or red light, is when his popularity is flailing. It got him re-elected didn't it? "Vote for me, because I am the only one that can save us from the terrorists..."
Let me give anyone a tip: Someone breaks into my home with the idea of doing me harm, I have a bat, I have a gun, and I will beat them senseless.
Look at the guy that had a bomb in his shoes...People were forewarned and willing to do damage. Terrorist attacks, like 9/11 won't happen again, because we won't let it, not because Bush will protect us from it...

Because if we don't enact laws to prevent them from killing our people, the constant fear we will live in will be a far greater change

Never forget 9/11

"Affecting and changing" our way of life is far from "destroying" our way of life.

And isn't standing in line a little longer to get on a plane worth it not being blown up or rammed into a building?

I've ask similar questions to this one before because I too, don't understand it. I mean how exactly do they threaten our 'freedom' when Bush has attempted to take away more freedoms than they ever thought of.
