He's just ripping us off right?

He makes us pay $50 for the a/cs alone. That is not including rent, electricity, gas or anything else. Strictly a/c.

I pay $380.00 a month for energy, running 2 a/cs all nights. That's $760.00 in two months. Maybe he is just trying to save you such high payments during the summer.
(50 x 12 = $600)

Is the electric included in the rent? If they are both energy efficient with thermostats that they cycle and are off once the cool temp is reached....I could see a ten or twenty, but not fifty.
Look, we had a landlord who ripped off the garbage company for years by refusing a dumpster. He was paying for the garbage haul for his place only but the small places he was renting just threw theirs in at the sign. He claims he was getting a rate increase for the number of small rentals but he did not even have a bill for the small rentals for at least a decade. He increased our rent by ten to cover the garbage increase. Take that by the number of rentals a month and he had a tidy sum in his pocket. Nice hey?
Take it up with the electric company...

depends if youre paying the electricity bill or not. If you aren't and youre only paying 50 a month for electricity id say not, if you are paying an electric bill (or its in your rent somehow) then yes, he is ripping you off.

If you pay the electric bill. Yes.
If he pays the electric bill. No.

Pay your own electric bill. Have it switched to your name.

If the meters are not separate, he can charge whatever you agreed to pay. If you didn't agree to pay it, then don't.
