My girlfriend really wants an mp3 player for christmas. i want to get her one where she'll never have to worry about running out of hard drive space. the ipod nano's are pricey for what you get as far as HD space is concerned. is there a off-brand out there with a good amount of memory that anybody has, that they really like? i want to find one that's real easy to put songs on, and is easy to operate as far as choosing a song and what not is concerned. thanks!

The 30g ipod with video. It does so much and if you do your math, it is actually much cheaper than Oh, lets say a 2g mp3 for $50.

It would take about $750 (about 15 mp3's) just to get the same space as a $320 30g ipod (which plays videos, unlike some other mp3's).

i would have to say the nano...however microsoft came out with a new mp3 player called the Zune...its suppose to be an ipod killer (much like they did with the xbox) you can transfer songs from zune to zune...also it has a WIFI radio on it...it has a better interface than the ipod and the warrenty is better. also it is pretty cheap. the only down side is that it just came out a few weeks ago so there arent very many accesories for it, however im sure that most of the ipod accesories will work for it

by far, Ipod is the easiest MP3-brand music player i've used. but if you're expecting to never run out of hard drive space, i'd go for, at least, a 30-gig Ipod video. you DO have to convert your music from MP3/WMA to something else, though. but Itunes can convert pretty much anything, and quick. i really wouldn't buy a Microsoft Zune at this point, though. the wi-fi thing is supposed to be pointless, since the songs you exchange only last three days, or three plays.

iPod nano - most affordable, and best bang for the buck.
