Whatever the market will bear. Same as anything else, meaning whatever the market will bear for that particular service.

I do not think that it is realistic for the janitor, who has not attended 7 years of post high school education (and possibly not finished high school) to expect to be anything but hard-working and barely making it.

If we do not continue to value our highly educated professions, monetarily, our economy will go down the drain, as well as our social consciousness.

As much as any non-skill job that requires hands-on labor. I mean seriously, don't degrade a janitor just because he or she picks up your trash or cleans your toilet.

After all, they do get up at the same time as others and work the same amount of time on their feet.

This is a subject that annoys the doo doo out of me about this country. We have this misconception that certain jobs are less than others. I have worked in low jobs and once I got my EE and Comp Sci degrees, I have worked professional jobs.

I am a witness that you work about 20% less hard and less amount as time in a professional job; so, why pay them so much less, degrading them. They work just as hard as anyone else.

well... I know many people that can't use them well enough to be paid for it...

I think they should be paid a living wage... and their kids should be able to go to a good school... and they should be able to live in a place where they aren't afraid to go out side... and they should be able to afford to go to the doctor if they get sick...

I think that's fair...

there is a HUGE, blatant difference between "valuing professionals" and paying a living wage with the things I mentioned...

I bet you'd value their work a little more if you had to do it yourself. Just because you are a tasteless narcissist, you are not better than other people. Probably a little worse than people that do honest hard work.

They should be paid a lot of money for doing things a lot of people wouldn't do.

They should NOT be paid. They should be forced to listen to AM radio and forced to convert to an extreme form of Christianity.
