Forensics -- accident reconstruction and crime scene reconstruction (see CSI episodes, such as tracing bullet trajectories)
Game animation -- no description needed
CGI in Hollywood setting -- Pixar and similar opportunities
Advertising / Music videos -- lots of 3D used there too
Simulations -- they're not just games!
