Jehovah's Witnesses believe strongly in God Jehovah and in his Son Jesus Christ.

Jehovah's Witnesses practice strict political and nationalistic neutrality, so they do not celebrate nationalistic holidays such as Independence Day and Memorial Day.

Other holidays derive from false religion, and so are incompatible with pure worship as adulterating interfaith. For example, Easter derives from the pagan god Oestre and celebrates "rebirth" and "fertility" instead of commemorating Christ's Last Supper and death as Jesus commanded:
(Luke 22:1-22) [Jesus] dispatched Peter and John, saying: “Go and get the passover ready for us to eat.” ...14 At length when the hour came, he reclined at the table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them: “I have greatly desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I tell you, I will not eat it again until it becomes fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” ... Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”

Seemingly innocuous holidays may have only a tangential connection with false worship, such as Mother's Day and Father's Day (although arguably derived from ancestor worship). Understated observance of these is not generally considered interfaith by Jehovah's Witnesses, but it is too easily misunderstood in some cultures.

Since such celebrations are not required in true worship, and can easily become a distraction, so Jehovah's Witnesses focus their attention elsewhere. In particular, they are focussed on the preaching work which *IS* a requirement for Christians:

(Luke 10:1-17) [Jesus] the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are frequently unjustly criticized for using the hot international Translation Bible. God's call it really is got here upon 7,000 circumstances contained in the unique bible manuscripts has been taken out of many Bible translations. And Jehovah's Witnesses have placed his call perfect decrease back the position it belongs. How would someone like it in the adventure that they wrote a e book that became a perfect seller and they did not get the perfect credit because someone took their call out?! That wouldnt be perfect! and many translators have placed words of their translations that were no longer got here upon contained in the unique Hebrew,Aramaic and Greek Bible. Jehovah's Witnesses truly replaced the unique words from the manuscripts. And December 25 is a pagan vacation which may be traced each and every of the previously to historic Babylon because the birthday of Nimrod. Plus Jesus died contained in the spring at 33 a million/2 years previous so he couldn't were born in December, yet truly sometime contained in the autumn.

The answer is that they're man-made holidays, and JW's don't want to have anything to do with worldly things. The only "holidays" they celebrate are anniversaries because that was ordained by God.

It's crazy, I know.

They don't celebrate anything because they believe they are man made holidays. They don't even celebrate anniversaries, or birthdays. They are just wierd. I used to be one for 25 years.
Beware of these people they will try to convert you when you are having a bad time or death in the family.
That is how they got my grandma converted in believeing this crap.

Well, I studied with them extensively....
They put the emphasis on JESUS in their religion...
How he was born to sacrifice his human life to give all humans a "pass" to heaven.

I am not a "Witness", but I think they are very close to the truth in their worship....

Christ's DEATH is far more important than his birth in God's plan----so Easter is important to them more than Christmas is.
They shun celebrations that take God's glory from him & give to others.

BUT they have issues---mostly about child-discipline----that I disagree with....so I prefer to take some of their beliefs, and worship God in my own way.

Who knows? Then again, these are the same people who won't take a blood transfusion to save their own lives, and they believe that heaven has a maximum occupancy of 4700. Go fig.

it is spelled JEHOVAH's. They choose to focus on the bigger issues and not get tangled in all the mess we call holidays.
