Of course not. I know the world has gotten consumed with being politically correct, but come on, we are not choosing teams here. Nor are major religions out to steal you away from your faith when no one is looking. Christmas was a religious holiday that became a general holiday. However we can not forget the fact that its main reason for being is steeped in religious content. I think we can best leave it at the religious people keep the Christ's birth as a personal thing, but enjoy the secular traditions of Christmas with the rest of the world. If you want to choose sides, go to the playground! Otherwise lighten up and enjoy. Whats so bad about peace on earth anyway??

I am a non-Christian and send and receive cards that say Merry Christmas. Everyone has their own meaning of Christmas, not just the birth of Christ.

I am a Christian, I enjoy receiving Christmas cards as much as I enjoy sending them. I have a few friends who are non-christian, whom I do send a card to, but I am extra careful not to send a religious card (which is mainly what I buy...but do keep a stash of regular Christmas cards) I respect thier beliefs, and would never want to impede on them in such a mannor. All of my non-christian friends do celebrate Christmas... so they take no offence to my sending them a card. Though I view Christmas as a Holy time, I don't mind others celebrating it as they wish.

I don't get offended because I think when someone sends me a Christmas card that they're just trying to show me that they were thinking about me during the holiday. I understand what you're saying though, I just don't think that most people send Christmas cards for the purpose of prosyletizing.

Ben Stein, a conservative commentator who is Jewish, wrote a piece in which he said that he understands Merry Christmas as a pleasant greeting during the holiday season and not a reason to be offended. That makes sense.

Well, Christmas is the name of the holiday. Anyone who is sending you a card is probably doing it out of obligation or out of a true feeling that they want you to have a merry holiday season. Unless you know that they're deliberately doing so because they know it'll get you wound up, the best reaction is "That's nice of them."

I appreciate the thought. One need not be a Christian to enjoy Christmas.
