I am not sure if you are talking about soccer or American football, but yes, it is quite common for males to be enthralled with either of these sports. I also enjoy these sports, though I am female, because I play soccer and know the rules of American football enough to understand it. While it can be exasperating to be ignored and placed underneath a simple game, maybe you could try to become a little more informed about these sports so you can enjoy watching them with your husband sometimes, and he could try to be more conscious of his viewing habits. From my experience, watching football with my family can give us something to talk about as long as it doesn't get in the way of other activities and conversations.

Mr. B's answer, although not too practical, is kind of funny. Do you look anything like the picture? If you do or you are as cute or cuter I'd watch less football. Do you want him to be doing something else during this time? Does he have a full time job? Does he help out at other times? You should try to work out an agreement with him.

My DH also watches a lot of football, and ahhhhhhh.. it's free time for me to ...
- experiment in the kitchen with a new recipe
- get caught up with my scrapbook
- spend one-on-one time with one of the kids
- make a boul of salsa and dip to share with him and share in his interest for 10-15 minutes
- go out for coffee with other football moms/wives
- organize a ladies day (we go to the wine region or an auction, or bra shopping, or organize a clothing swap)
- take a bath (the only room in our house that I still have privacy in!)
- volunteer at a function )or something to get out of the house)
- answer Yahoo! questions!
What I am saying is get your own hobby/interest and explore that! Then go out on a date (walk, coffee, dinner, etc) and talk about it!
Enjoy!

if he stops watching -he will just resent you for it-i say tell him for every game he watches-you want sex!!!! he will think he has died and went to heaven-and you will get some attention-and he won't object when you get a hobby to do when football is on!!

Make a deal with him, for every football game he watches, he must do something for you during the week, such as washing the dishes, doing laundry, cooking, taking the kids out for a day, ect...

Deal with it. While he is watching football, go shopping and spend all his money.

Don't expect to change him. You will have to find a way to deal with it. If you can't...then you have some decisions to make.
