Dont believe it Phoenix Arizona is probably the worst place to live if you enjoy having friends who are honest and will never steal your property. There are so many people that believe they have a right to own whatever it is that you have and will go out of their way to fool you into gaining trust in them then booom they get you in the end! Not only that but the State's highest income comes from the criminal element. If your not a criminal when you get here then they will make sure to turn you into one so they can get your money in fines!!!
I haven't lived in many places but the last place I Iived that was half way decent where you can still leave your doors open and not worry about the drive by shootings...it was in Liberty Missouri. (Which i called misery - dont know why).
There is no place that you should consider living being better than where you are unless you are in danger most of the time. If you are then the reason to move is just that. Area Area Area.
Unless safety is really an issue, just be happy where you are and quit trying to find "that better place" because everything is what you make of it and if you don't allow yourself to be happy in your life you never will be.
It's okay to say "Hey I'm happy right now and nothing is going to change that!" Then believe it and have a happy life!
.................think about it................

Pretty broad Question.....
Nebraska for me is much of all I know...
I've been to California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado(8 years), Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, South Dakota, Nebraska(12 and 16 years *28 total*), Kansas, and Iowa..
Flagstaff Arizona would be a likely candidate, If you go to Colorado there is plenty of climate choices throughout the state.. Nebraska on the other hand is an experience altogether I could not begin to explain... even after some 20 years here, I could not explain the weather, except to say that here we get it ALL....
The people here are not as stone age age some believe...
We are diverse, and virtually protected being in the middle of the greatest land I know of....AMERICA
So pick a spot, if it's not you, we don't mind getting new neighbors in Nebraska..

I stay in New Albany, Indiana and that i love it! it really is a small city with no longer a lot to provide yet huge open captivating usa, although that's perfect outdoors of Louisville, KY it really is the perfect city contained in the international! that's sufficiently small that you're literally not beaten by persons, although that's were given large lifestyle and music, and so on. i'd advise residing in Louisville, although that's more less costly in Indiana. lots more less costly.

If you mean the United States i would definetly go with Southern Florida :) Specially around Miami Beach. The water there is actually warm unlike California.
Statistically it's Vermont but it's too cold up there :S

OK.. America.. supposed you refer to North America, I think Vancouver can be a peaceful place to live after retirement! For working or looking for chances to get rich or to work hard play hard eat good wear good, ... etc. big cities like New York, SF, LA, Chicago are exciting!
If I have to choose the best place to live in Asia, I would pick either Koyto, Japan or Hong Kong (where I'm living now) or Dalian or Qingdau, China

Austin Texas is my favorite place! The people are friendly, the weather moderate, everything you could ever want to do is near by, and no state taxes!

Don't live anywhere around St. Louis or in it, it sucks. If I had a choice I would probably live somewhere in the northwest.

Either Boston or Miami although, surprisingly, Milwaukee and Minneapolis aren't bad either.
