Depending on whether you are breastfeeding, it could be a few weeks to several months (even more than a year) before menstruation resumes. For me it was 10 months, but I was breastfeeding (it started even though I was still breastfeeding almost exclusively). For most people it's about six weeks which is about where you are now. It could be that the cramps and headache were a sign of your period getting ready to start.
Remember not to freak out because that can delay your period even more.... and make sure you use protection next time, you can get pregnant any time that you are not already pregnant if you are not using protection--even women who think they are menopausal and haven't had periods in years sometimes get pregnant.
If the test was negative two days ago then you are probably not pregnant IF you had sex more than two weeks ago. If you have had sex since then, the test would not be reliable.
Good luck and congratulations on the new baby! :)

I am sorry to hear your situation.....sounds nervewracking!!!! Are you breastfeeding?? If so, it could be MONTHS before you get your period.....You aren't still bleeding from postpardom?? All I can say is CAAAALLLLMMMM down, and stop having unprotected sex....you haven't even waited for the 6 weeks before you had sex??Let me tell you this....I am 5 months pregnant, and I have a 6 month old, a 20 month old and a three yearold.....I didn't waste much time between pregnancies, but this new baby I am pregnant with was concieved just after the 6 week mark....and YES>>>>you are more fertile right after giving birth than ever....so please be careful!!!Goodluck....I hope things go your way. As for your boyfriend.....if he's worried about the possibilty of another pregnancy, he should either use protection or get a vasectomy.....good luck!

If you a breastfeeding it may not come until you are finished. I have a 4 month old and mine has yet to come. When was the last time you had sex? It would take 3 weeks from the time of conception to show up on a urine pregnancy test. If you are concerned call your Dr and get a blood pregnancy test done.

If you are breastfeeding you can go up to two years without a period. If you are formula feeding I don't know how long but longer that 1 1/2 months, anything during the first 6 weeks post-partum is considered post-partum bleeding not menstruation.
Now if you are really worried you can take a pregnancy test.

Your hormones may still be off balance from the pregnancy. Of course women are highly fertile in the weeks following giving birth, so you may want to take a pregnancy test just to be sure. Either way, you should call your gynocologist if your period does not regulate because that can suggest other problems.

If you are not breastfeeding, then it can take several months for the period to resume. If you are breastfeeding, it can just be hormonal. My period did not resume until 6 months after I had my son and I had all the period symptoms and nothing came out. I went to my OB and he said I was fine and that this came happen to some women. However, you should make an appt with your OB just to make sure.

If you're nursing, it's normal not to have periods for awhile. However having unprotected sex wasn't wise, and BOTH of you should know better. Since you have given birth 3 times...discuss with him about having a vasectomy. Someone needs to bear some responsibility here instead of having unprotected sex then getting the cold shoulder for a possible pregnancy

If youre breast feeding, your period may be delayed until you stop. You shouldve abstained from intercourse for 6 weeks after the birth. Go to your doctor for your 6 week check up and if youre not pregnant again , do your self and your babies a favor and use some contraception.
