There are two primary video plugs used by PC nowadays: the regular VGA plug (15-pins), and DVI, which is used in many LCD monitors.

Your old 17-in is the VGA type monitor. Most PC's still come with this type of video plug, unless you specificially buy one that ONLY has DVI plug. So your 17-in monitor should work fine with the new Dell you're getting. Even if you did get one with only DVI plug, DVI to VGA adapter is readily available.

The advantage of DVI is the signal remains digital, and goes through no analog conversion, thus the quality should be better than going through any analog monitor... in theory. In practice most people can't tell the difference. :)

The monitor or display of a computer is the primary user interface. Monitor problems are some of the most common computer problems since the voltages inside a monitor can be as high as 10 KV. Many of the problems can be fixed yourself by simply changing the settings. Detailed instructions available at http://fixit.in/monitor.html

you should use something pronounced as the mirror App it extremely is definitely extremely hassle-free. no longer a lot of human beings certainly be attentive to this yet monitors are certainly created from mirrors and laptop boards with only a sprint of wires and string. you should get a screw motive force set and peel off the adhesive rubber screw protectors around the show, they must bare screws, eliminate the screws and you will have the skill hassle-free only eliminate the show front disguise. this could exhibit countless laptop boards and the show unit, there will be screws around the show unit, all you should do is take away those screw, lean the show unit at an perspective and disconnect any wires linked to it. you choose for a mirror approximately the comparable length because of the fact the show unit which you only bumped off. Now you should take your warm glue gun (silicon works only besides, yet get the main costly one as that ensures extreme high quality adhesion and you do no longer choose for the wires to return off as quickly as each and all of the screws are back in.), for each cord, place a blob of glue at the back of the mirror, intently connect each and each cord to the glue, it extremely is not suitable what gets placed the place, if there's a plug linked to the top of the cord then only pull it off. attempt to be very careful, as there are actually not any screw holes for the mirror, you only ought to apply your warm glue or silicon to adhere the mirror back in place, as quickly as you have executed this, place the front disguise back and all it extremely is screws. you are able to throw away all left over screws, plugs and the show unit you bumped off. Congratulations you have effectively put in the mirror app.
