Pssst.... it's really not to show off their bodies or to improve flexibility or whatnot....

It's just a lot easier to draw - just a hot body and not have to worry about clothes; just add in a few lines and voila! You have a costume.

superheros have to be aerodynamic and the spandex helps them move with the quickness :))

to cut down on wind resistance while flying or moving fast. also for flexibility. can be hidden under normal clothes
