When a child is underweight, it's usually not a case of being underfed. Force-feeding him extra food and calories is not the solution here. If he is underweight and spitting up alot, he needs to see a doctor.

It sounds like he has reflux. As far as the weight, it is ok. Most 1 yr olds weigh around 20 lbs so he really is not underweight. You can add cereal to his formula to thicken it a little. This will help with the spitting up and also adds a few calories. It is 1 teaspoon to each oz.

I don't think you need to worry much. My son is actually the same way. He's been to the doctors for regular check-ups and his doctor says that he is fine. He told us as long as he is eating good then that is ok. He also said the reason for my sons low weight was due to him being very active and burning the calories back off faster than him gaining them. When my son was a yr and some weeks he only weighed 19 pounds. But again when he saw the doctor the doctor said it was okay as long as he was eating.

If your baby is spitting up a lot, it could have reflux, which means he's being fed but it's not staying in his/her body long enough to get the nutrients it needs. See your doctor and tell him everything - it's a common problem and easily fixed. Good luck!!

No, you shouldn't be worried because your son is not underweight. Babies spit up, that's life for them.

You need to ask your Dr.
But my niece is 22 months old and weighs about 22 or 23 pounds and she is healthy.

he's not underweight. he's still on the charts.. its not important what he weighs but rather that he's gaining at a steady rate.. ALL three of my children (two girls, one boy) weighed 19 lbs at one year old. none of them spit up. they are all healthy and normal.

this is really something you should talk to your doctor about. some babies are smaller than others, but if he is spitting up alot, contact your doctor and discuss it with him/her.
