Meaning, you were 110% certain they were straight but it turned out they were gay. And you were shocked.

Hmm. That is so sad. Why don't you write her a letter and apologize to her for being so mean to her. She's your blood.

One of my fraternity brothers was always dating homecoming queens and the sorority girls were almost waiting in line to date him. His Dad got a job transfer to another state and he finished up his college senior year at another school. I went to visit him 2 years later and when I got there he told me that his 2 roommates were gay (and since he was 110% straight I never thought that he was gay). The day before I left he told me that he was gay too. I think I walked around with dumbfounded after that out of shock, but it ended up helping me out when I came to terms of myself being gay a few years later because I realized that gay people are like everyone else and that stereotypes aren't how people really are.

I am no longer shocked by any such information that comes to light. I am surprised sometimes, but not shocked. It sometimes does take me aback though how someones sexuality is expressed, how intense it can become or expressed in unusual ways -- like the sex in public places scenario.

I am a little surprised today that many people who do have an interest in their same sex do not always label themselves as gay. "Experimenting" is a label that comes to mind. Also, I think that more and more bisexuals are at least admitting their sexual orientation to themselves.

With some guys I went to high school with, I wasn't shocked, but I was suprized. Then when I thought about it, it kind of made perfect sense.

There was a guy I was friends with as a kid, and when I got a job at the same place he worked at when we were older (and he was gay), I teased him about how I knew him when he was girl-crazy.

There have been people I've known, and I was shocked to find out they were straight. :-)

Just saddened really, my cousin was last boy to carry a disappearing family name, he never married because he was gay, shocked many people in our family; just made me sad to see the line become extinct.

actually quite the opposite, someone i thought was gay. my gaydar went off every-time we were around each other, and had all the mannerisms of a twink. so i finally asked him out on a date and he introduced me to the girl he had been dating and their child. guess i needed to get an adjustment to the gaydar......dam he was cute too
