Hi... Im using Mozilla Firefox version 2.0, I installed an extension called videodownloader... (Im not sure if IE has this plugin) then you will be able to right click the youtube movie, open the link and save it.
But, i think you still have to have a FLV player or a flash player... 'cuz the extension of the movies in youtube is FLV, in order to play it back on your computer even if you're not online.
And if you save it to disc as movie, you still have to convert it again to AVI or MPG..
My Solution: Download Mozilla Firefox... at:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/
install some extensions/ add-ons you want...

Download FLV Player and FLV to AVI, MPG Converter.

I have wanted the same thing but did not copy movies so I thought of new idea. If I need a movie from Youtube I make screen video(for free) then watch.

That screen video soft was freeware but now they are selling. I still have free version if you need send me e-mail I will forward to you. This is what I can do for you.

purely acquire the movie from everywhere. then open it with movie maker or different video modifying device. next clip the movie as you wish. then In movie maker. bypass to maintain > put up or finished project or keep movie document > choose everywhere on computing gadget the position you pick to maintain and then placed it aside. Then upload it to Youtube. you're finished.
