Tell them the truth. Ask for help if you felt you really did your best and need help. Own up to it if you just didn't do your job.
Maturity has the characteristic of taking responsibility for your life and actions. You can be adult about it.... or remain a child.
Best Wishes,
Sue

First of all, as a teacher, I am very sorry that you report was insufficient in that you received an "F". If I were your parents, I would want to know what the assignment was, how much preparation you put toward it, and if you really understood the requirements. An "F" usually means that the student didn't do anything, or follow any of the directions. I have never given an "F" for a report unless none of the directions were observed - the student shoudl have received something - if only for the effort. Be honest - you have to tell your parents the truth. If this grade is measured within your others, then for sure - the "F" is going to bring your overall average down. You have to tell them. Then, I'd ask my teacher if there was anything I could do to bring the grade up. I don't usually like students to put that pressure on me, because I believe in - do it right the first time and you dont' have to ask for another assignment, or a 'do-over'. Finally, my friend, buckle down. If English is a "challenge" for you, then it means you have to put forth more effort in order to be successful. You have to make up your mind that You're going to lick it - not the other way around. Writing is not a hard thing. You just need to memorize the writing formula and then you will find that it works for all kinds of papers - descriptive, persuasive, compare and contrast - whatever. You have access to the internet - surely you have the advantage of having expert information at your fingertips. Good luck to you next time. Consult someone to help you in the future. Don't take making an "F' lying down.

If your English is so bad that you got an 'F' on your report, there's a chance that your parents have already noticed that you have trouble in that area. However, your English in this query was quite satisfactory (except for the stupid english comment) so your problem may lie elsewhere. Best thing to do is simply show them your report card and stand by to get blasted.

You have to tell your parents that you did a poor job on your report but you are going to work harder from now on. How does that make English stupid? It is a subject you will use every day of your life.

Well, you can't hide it. Just be honest with them. Really. You'll be in alot more trouble if your parents find out about it another way. Throw in the "I'm aiming to do better" card by asking them if maybe you should get a tutor. Then they will think that you are trying to fix the problem rather than hide it. I think they will be rather gentle on you then.

Tell them you need an English tutor for Christmas. Did you do any of your work? How can you fail English?

The sooner you tell them the better. Tell them also, how you will avoid an F the next time (if you think you are able), if not, tell them you need some extra help in the subject. If they see you are serious about it - they will probably be less upset.

"I got an F on my English report"
But seriously, if you tell them you want help, like a tutor or something, then they will see that you want to correct the situation, take responsibility for yourself, and will probably take it easy on you.

Don't tell them until you have to. If you have to, then tell them you are sorry and trying to make it to an at least a C really soon. Tell them you will try your best, you swear, blah blah blah. In short, show them that you truly truly regret and will never make that mistake again.

they cant necessarily check your grades online, but chances are that they'll find out some way.
tell them casually. like "it sucks, the teachers incredibly awful, i just gotta try harder next time" ...make up whatever stretch that fits the situation.
THAT WAY they won't get totally ticked when they find out on their own. then theyll think ur tryin to hide it from them or dont care at all [even if you dont care its best to act like you do.]
