Ultimately the only one who can determine success is oneself. But society's definition is rooted in financial terms. It is a battle that is larger then anyone of us.

Those who have attained financial success need not think on matters of the soul. If they do, it is only if they feel like it. The poor do not have that luxury. It is a demon that the poor HAVE to contront. The millions who never attain financial success fight an uphill battle allowing themselves to find worthiness is matters of the soul.

People who have so little and still manage to determine themselves a success are heroes for they are true soldiers, true winners, true successes. Their children get the most beautiful legacy that humanity can pass on to the next generation.

Hmmmmm. Well, I can dress myself and feed myself. I am potty trained. I can read and write at the fourth grade level. I can balance a checkbook. My wife hasn't left me after 40 years but it could happen at any time even though I know how to say, "Yes, dear." I formed a corporation that is currently governed by consensus, there is almost no turnover and my colleagues area all very prosperous.
Wait a minute, I just realized, I don't much care about success, I'm too busy and having too much fun doing stuff that I like. Maybe that is success. Doing what you like.

not yet but I am well on my way. To me being a success would mean that I do not whine and complain, I am grateful for what I have realizing that most of the world has much less. I enjoy simple pleasures and derive inner peace from (as corny as it sounds)an autumn day, birdsong, the smell of rain, fresh cut grass, etc. you get the idea.
